I am a huge supporter of our law enforcement officers.  LEOs are the backbone of a safe community. Right now, the St. Paul Police Department (SPPD) is short 18% of its officers, and this has contributed to a sharp rise in crime. St. Paul’s crime rate is 89.5% higher than the state average and 94% higher than the national average—these are troubling statistics!

I have personally been a victim of crime multiple times, and many business owners and homeowners are leaving the city due to overwhelming criminal activity. This cannot continue. My office will work to secure funding and resources for the SPPD to recruit and retain officers, ensuring they have the support needed to protect our city. Additionally, I will strive to develop initiatives aimed at crime prevention and intervention, while supporting our city attorney’s office in their efforts to hold criminals accountable.
