LOWER PROPERTY TAXES

Taxes in St. Paul are increasing faster than our population, suggesting that money isn’t being spent efficiently. The average homeowner here pays $4,168 per year in property taxes, which is $1,768 more than the national average. Since 2021, office property values have dropped by over 15%, while costs for some businesses have risen by 41%. These tax changes directly affect how expensive it is to run a business.

St. Paul has great attractions—a hockey team, museums, a thriving arts scene, great restaurants, easy airport access, light rail, etc. But despite these strengths, too many businesses are closing or leaving. To fix this, we need to encourage businesses to set up shop in St. Paul by offering incentives. Without business growth, taxes will keep rising, making it harder for both business owners and residents to afford to live here. I will work to create incentives to bring businesses back and find ways to spend taxpayer dollars more wisely, aiming to reduce tax burdens for everyone.
